Portlaoise Golf Club is situated on the site of the original Maryborough Golf Club which dates back to the 1800's.
It was born out of a passion to provide golfers of all abilities with a course that combines traditional design and a distinctly Irish blend. It is the golf course where members and visitors can enjoy the game in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
This 18 hole parkland course is playable all year round. Gently rolling fairways and greens combine with water to provide a test for any golfer.

Special Offer:
Hole 12 - The feature hole of the course and one of the best holes in the Midlands. In the height of summer, with the trees in leaf, the gap can be as little as four or five yards. A stream runs through the trees, gobbling up any miss-hit or overly conservative shots. Thick rough to the right of the green, which isn't visible from the tee, also offers more problems. Tip: Decide on a club on the tee-box and go with it. This hole punishes indecision! |

Green Fees - Weekdays: €10.00. Weekends/Bank Holidays: €15.00 Also see our Society Rates The Golf
Club is GUI / ILGU affiliated and is open to new members at very competitive

Golf Pro tip of the week: There are elements of Sergio Garcia's technique that you can learn from, even if his swing is no technical masterpiece. It is the source of much power. At the top of his backswing, his weight has turned to his right side and his back faces the target. From here, backswing turns to downswing as he shifts his weight from the right to the left side. Pro Tip: A good practice drill,
which you can incorporate into your pre-shot routine, is to swing to
the top of your backswing, pause for a fraction of a second, then make
your transition and stop. Drill the feeling of dropping the club with
nothing more than force of gravity, and this pause will force your lower
body to start the downswing. |
Hail, rain or shine, every day is a good day for golf at Portlaoise no matter what the weather. |
